The officer-in-charge of Bhowanipore police station, Indrajit Ghosh Dastidar, was transferred on Tuesday to Amherst Street police station amid rumblings that the government was "unhappy" with the manner in which he and his team had handled a clash during the immersion of a Jagaddhatri idol last November, which had prompted chief minister Mamata Banerjee to intervene. The Lalbazar top brass, however, said the transfer was "routine".
