What is Hotklix ?

At Hotklix, all the content you see is posted by users. Hotklix is a place where you can surf the most popular stuff on net. It's a place where you can submit stories, videos, photos...anything and everything that you find on web.

How to register ?

Registration is an easy and simple 3 step process. In the first step you choose your user ID and password, in the second step you select a profile pic and geographical details. And in the last step you are given an option to invite your friends to make sharing all the more interesting and fun.

How can I submit links on Hotklix ?

Cakewalk! Click on the "Submit Link" button shown at the top right hand corner of every page. If you are a registered user enter your user ID and password details or select the New User option to proceed. Paste the URL of the story, photo or video, then tell us if it's a story, video or image and select the category you feel is the best suited for your link. On the next step add a short title and description, choose a thumbnail or upload an image (if options not given). Hit "Submit Story" and you're all set. If you selected "New User" option at the beginning then you will be asked to provide your email ID, username and password details.

Is it OK to submit a duplicate link ?

Users invest alot of time and energy searching the best content on the web. Submitting duplicate stories is definitely not hot and happening, so we ask all Hotklixers to submit the original story instead of submitting a duplicate. Of course, there will be instances when you will find similar stories from different sources that are submitted to Hotklix. In those cases, we let our users determine which is the Hottest of all those similar stories and let them make the best one popular by voting it hot and giving it maximum views. However, if we find that users are consistently submitting duplicates, their accounts may be banned

Someone submitted a duplicate of my link, how did that happen ?

There's only one way this could happen i.e. if the subsequent submission was from a different URL and/or had a different title and description — we do our best, but we’re just not perfect and sometimes miss these. If you feel that the behavior was abusive — and you’re sure the duplicate doesn’t add a new perspective to the story — feel free to contact us and we’ll look into your report.

How can I delete a link I submitted ?

As per our usage terms under the section "License to use User Material/ Content" under "Terms of Use" we reserve the right to remove content that is determined to be in violation of our Terms of Use at any time and only at our discretion.

How can I edit a link I submitted ?

Please contact support@hotklix.com to edit a story. Be sure to include the Hotklix URL of the story you want to edit as well as the updated title, category, or description. You must be the original submitter of the story to request an edit to a story and you must email us from the email address associated with your Hotklix account.

Can I submit a link directly from some other site ?

Getting registered at Hotklix is short and simple, the 'Sign up' link on top right of every page allows you to get registered on Hotklix. You can get registered using any mail id of your choice.

What's hot or cold vote ?

We allows our users to vote for a particular video, story or photos. If you like it you can vote it as 'Hot' or you can vote it as 'Cold' if you don't like it. Your voting makes a story Popular or unpopular.

Can I change my vote ?

You can change your vote by visiting the same link for which you voted earlier and then clicking on "Change to Cold" if you voted the link as "Hot" or vice versa. You can find the link using the Search option or visiting "My Activities" section on your "My Profile" page.

How do I report content abuse ?

If you encounter a content to which you would like to report as abuse, broken link or inappropriate category then please use the drop down provided on the "Show Details" page for every link.The drop down is placed in the box containing the link description and the hotklixer details who uploaded the link. And if you find a bug or you would like to report abusive behavior or other problem on the site please write us at support@hotklix.com.

How can I add comments ?

You can add comments for any story by visiting the "Story Detail" page.

What is "Add to Favourites" ?

If you find a video, story or photo really interesting and you would like to bookmark it for your future reference, you can use "Add to Favourites" functionality. Using the same will add the respective link to your profile and next time if you wish to view the link you can go to "My Favourite Links" section on your profile page. The "Add to Favourite" link is available with every story.

Who are Hotklixers ?

A registered user of Hotklix is called Hotklixer.

How are Hotklixer's ranked ?

Hotklixers are ranked on the basis of an algorithm developed by Hotklix. The algorithm takes various factors into account while ranking a hotklixer e.g. the no. of hot votes, no. of links submitted, no. of fans, etc.

How can I add Hotklix's RSS feed to any external site ?

You can get Hotklix RSS feed to your site by clicking on the RSS logo under the "Follow Hotklix" block on homepage.

How can I get the daily updates from Hotklix in my mail ?

You can subscribe for Hotklix email updates by filling in your email ID in th block provided at the centre of homepage OR by clicking on the red color envelope titled "Updates" under the "Follow Hotklix" box on the homepage. You can also select the frequency of mailer and recieve updates on a daily or weekly basis.

If you are a new user of Hotklix, then you can create a profile by registering for Hotklix using the "Register" link on top right hand corner of every page. If you are already a registered user, then you can complete your profile details by visiting "My Profile" section post login. "My Profile" link is provided to you on top right hand corner of every page post login.

How do I change my password ?

Facebook Connect is a service offered by Facebook so that people can log into their favorite sites using their Facebook username and password. In addition to making it easier to log into Hotklix, Facebook Connect also allows you to use your name and profile photo from your Facebook account on Digg and to easily share with your friends by posting your Hotklix, comments, and submissions to your Facebook feed.

What's personal data from my Facebook account is shared with Hotklix ?

Currently, only a user’s full name, age, geographical details and profile image is shared.

The search function in the top navigation bar of every page allows you to search for what you are looking for.

How can I find content using Tags ?

Tags are keywords or short descriptions that offer a little more information so that you, and other Hotklixers, can quickly decide whether you want to see more. In Tag Cloud provided at the bottom of right navigation, click on the tag/ keyword present in the cloud. Clicking on the word will lead you to the page sharing all the links related to the tag.

I can't find the Tags I'm looking for ?

If you are looking for a keyword/ tag which is not there in the Tag Cloud, kindly use the search function in the top navigation bar of every page.

Hotklix is organized into groups of categories based on topics. First, go to the homepage, where under the "Featured Today" block you’ll find the best of the best according to the our editor. From there, click around on "Popular" tab and you’ll see links which have become popular on the basis of the no. of views, hot votes, comments, etc.

How do I browse the site ?

Hotklix offers you six different categories which makes it easy for you to find videos, text, photos of topic of your choice. You'll find the categories listed in the navigation bar across the top of the page. Click on any category to see the popular stories in that subject. Under each categories are a number of sub-categories that drill down into that subject further. Don't see your interest in the navigation bar? Then turn to tags. Tags are good. What's the difference between the Recent and Popular content ?

The content which has been recently submitted by the Hotklixers appears under "Recent" tab. And the content which have become popular on the basis of the no. of views, hot votes, comments, etc. is published under "Popular" tab.

How can I populate my links in my social network?

You can use the following ways for sharing your link with your friends on other social networks: 1. Twitter: click on the twitter logo appearing under the story link 2. Facebook: click on the facebook logo appearing under the story link 3. Email: You can email the link to any of your friends by clicking on the envelope under the story link

Who is a Fan ?

Fan is a follower. Any hotklixer who follows another Hotklixer is called a Fan.

How to become a Fan ?

You can become a fan of a particular Hotklixer by visiting his/ her profile and clicking on the button "Become a Fan". You need to be logged in to Hotklix in order to become a fan.

Why to become a Fan ?

When you like the content or links uploaded by another Hotklix you can become a fan of the particular Hotklixer. This will help you get the alerts for any new story uploaded by the respective hotklixer or for any other activity done by the hotklixer on the site.
