Apolipoproteins and Their Role in Lipoprotein Metabolism
Apolipoproteins form lipoproteins by binding lipids, the substances that store and carry energy through the bodys lymphatic and circulatory systems. Because lipoproteins are oil-based substances they are not water soluble and need assistance to be carried through these water-based systems. Apolipoproteins are also responsible for lipoprotein metabolism and the ability of tissues to absorb these proteins.
