Much has been said about Barfi! being sent as India's entry to this year's Oscars but the truth is that the film could be disqualified by the jury. This was the very same reason why Mani Ratnams Nayagan starring Kamal Hassan was disqualified because the film had scenes which looked uncannily like the ones in Godfather. With scenes in Barfi! looking very much like the ones in Singin in the Rain and Charlie Chaplin films, Barfi! could be disqualified.
